On April 1, 1976 childhood friends and later fellow entrepreneurs, Gary Dudley and Charlie Amato pooled their resources amounting to a $1500 investment and formed the Central Financial Insurance Services (CFIS) in Dallas, Texas. The company was established on the principles of providing excellent customer service and putting clients and their needs first—without ever compromising service. Today, the company is an international financial services company, providing products and services to help businesses, families, and financial institutions meet some of their most critical goals.
It was during the 1980s that SWBC Mortgage was formed and currently services the San Antonio and Hill country areas from five branches, all of which have their own resources to oversee and control the processing, underwriting and closing of their own loans. For more than 25 years now SWBC Mortgage has been recognized as the top independently owned mortgage banker in San Antonio which they attribute to a stable high level leadership and their seasoned loan officer staff with an average of 15 years of industry experience among them. The company is enjoying a spectacular year having, to date, funded more than $400 million in local loans. SWBC Mortgage’s President and CEO, Susan Stewart, is highly regarded amongst her peers. She is a Past President of the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association and is now the Chairman of the National Mortgage Bankers Association.
Among the seasoned Loan officer staff are Irene Morgan, John Cortissoz, Rob Flores and Leslie Barnett. Irene, with more than 25 years of industry experience, is producing manager of the Brookhollow Branch. John, as producing manager of the San Pedro Branch promises that from breaking ground to the final walk through, he will be with his client every step of the way. Has been recognized as being in the top 1% of originators in America for the past seven years. Producing manager, Rob of the Blanco at West Avenue Branch, works hard so his clients actually enjoy the mortgage process and end up feeling that they proved themselves to have been pretty savvy buyers. And, in the Hill Country, producing manager of that branch, Leslie, was named Five Star Mortgage Professional by Texas Monthly in 2015 and was recognized by the Kerrville Daily Times as Best Mortgage Lender in 2018.
